FRENCH RE VERBS PLUPERFECT TENSE

A LEVEL FRENCH KS5 FRENCH GCSE FRENCH PLUPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency regular French RE verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook is ideal for A Level French students who are beginning to work with more complex language and texts in French, and developing their knowledge of tense and mood in French. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language, with the grammar of the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English , I frequently see students using avoir instead of être for verbs which require the auxiliary être. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary verbs in the imperfect tense to ensure that they can form the pluperfect tense accurately. In terms of the past participle, students begin to be able to predict it accurately, the more they see it, and construct it. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GCSE FRENCH KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH NEAR FUTURE TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key & verb lists. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for homework, for practice and revision during holidays and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced KS3 French and KS4 French students who want to practice and refresh their conjugation skills in French, and are working with more complex language and texts with a range of tenses. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognize and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written French is accurate, and that their understanding of French across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. GERMAN PHONICS PRONUNCIATION SPELLING #1

(0)
KS3 KS4 GERMAN RHYMING WORDS CARDS PHONICS PRONUNCIATION SPELLING PRACTICE - 99 WORDS FOCUSING ON PHONICS, SOUNDS AND RHYMES - CARDS AND WHOLE-GROUP PRONUNCIATION PRACTICE There are 99 cards featuring a range of sounds in German, and a whole-group presentation and practice resource. We revisit the activities frequently to help students develop *phonic awareness *and a thorough understanding of how German spelling and sounds work. I’ve found that students are quickly able to recognize sound patterns, enabling them to predict the pronunciation of new words accurately. The whole-group presentations are non-editable for copyright reasons, but move forward via a click as a slide show, with all the rhymes and corresponding sounds grouped together - I often use these at the beginning of the lesson, or a 5-minute pronunciation and speaking break during a lesson, again at very regular intervals. I always encourage students to look carefully at all parts of a particular word, not just the focus sound: for example erreicht - the focus sound is ei, but the ch sound is equally important. The resource works well for my German students at all stages of learning, from beginner to advanced. We use the card template for students to add corresponding sounds / rhymes that they know, or learn, over time. I allocate 10-15 minutes frequently to focus on pronunciation and sounds - this really does help students develop authentic *German *pronunciation. Laminate the cards if possible - they are far more learner-friendly, and will remain in excellent condition for years. I’ve included a set without a background, as that is not as expensive to prep as the colour - I do create colour-coded sets for my students when I can, as it helps them to identify different resources, but they are fine without color too. All files are non-editable for copyright reasons. They are copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, shared, rewritten or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. These Italian conversation cards are perfect for developing Italian speaking skills - there are 100 question and answer cards and a reference book focusing on beginning conversation. They’re also great for multi-skill language learning - they give students structured talk opportunities and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work - my students frequently select the speaking and writing cards for their free-choice learning activity. The prompt cards feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the intermediate stages of their Italian learning, including a range of tenses. They’re also useful for GCSE Italian revision. The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in Italian. Students find it a very useful learning support resources and it’s also handy for whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice. Students use the Notes and Next Steps template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning - we use this to guide and inform discussions we have as a whole-group about where students think they are at the moment, and what they think they might like to work a little more on. They also note ideas for creating their own questions, and any new vocab or structures they might learn. The question and answer card writing templates give students the opportunity to apply their Italian very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other, using the reference book as a form of writing frame to help them form their language correctly. This is a great team activity too. We also use the cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several you can start with that work really well for us. PRIMARY FRENCH BREAKFAST WORD WALL

PRIMARY FRENCH BREAKFAST WORD WALL MUR DE MOTS French Word Wall Le Petit Déjeuner - 18 scrumptious breakfast items! Word walls are great not only for creating an instant introduction to beginner vocabulary in the written form, but also for giving the learning environment a fabulous French look and feel. There are 18 items of breakfast vocab, which I don’t necessarily always have in my learning plan, but I use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. I’ve used both the indefinite and partitive article, which helps us put together sentences, such as J’aime manger des croissants, or Normalement, je prends une tasse de café. We look at cognates and near cognates, and discuss breakfast, and what we like to eat, or we’d like to try. The items are: = bacon = yoghurt = cup of coffee = cereal = jam = pancakes = croissants = waffles = porridge = orange juice = milk = boiled eggs = fried eggs = pain au chocolat = toast = bread rolls = syrup = tea There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we really get the most from word walls and other displays - we do lots of guessing and spelling games, and vocab quizzes for example. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to enjoy your Primary French Breakfast Word Wall Mur de Mots for years to come! Have a look at this Primary French Numbers 0-21 word wall which you can download for free - you can check whether its design will suit your classroom - the breakfast word wall is exactly the same design. SPANISH AR VERBS PRETERITE TENSE

GCSE SPANISH KS4 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH PRETERITE TENSE AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced beginner Spanish moving into intermediate Spanish students who feel comfortable working with longer and more complex texts, which include a range of tenses. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. Language learners tend to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently confuse the preterite tense with the imperfect tense when they are conjugating them, as well as when and how to use either tense. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt. Notes and Next Steps template to encourage my students to reflect on their progress, and think about what they can reasonably and realistically do to meet learning targets and progress in their learning answer key Try this free sampler: SPANISH CONJUGATION PRACTICE FREE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-conjugation-practice-sampler-12477165 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish grammar activities, and a wide range of Spanish language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GCSE FRENCH KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH REFLEXIVE VERBS 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key & verb lists My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook is really versatile, and ideal for advanced KS3 French and KS4 French students who are working with more complex language and texts with a range of tenses. French reflexive verbs can be quite tricky, particularly for students whose first language does not have a similar reflexive verb group, and they often require additional practice. Firstly, the correct reflexive pronoun, and secondly, its location within a clause or sentence in relation to the pronoun and verbs. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently look for a word that is the direct equivalent if will before they understand the the notion of future is implicit in the verb itself, via the verb ending. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. French classroom language display posters which creates an instant introduction to 20 commonly-used expressions in your French classroom. The posters also give the learning environment a fabulous French look and feel, promoting French as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your learners. They introduce learners to a range simple everyday language in French from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of French words, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The language is simple and effective, suitable for absolute beginners. I use the posters to promote use of the target language in contexts that we meet frequently and regularly, such as***Asseyez-vous ! Levez la main ! and Écoutez !*** There are some greetings, such as Bonjour tout le monde ! and Comment ça va ? It’s important to build routines in the language classroom, using only the target language, and avoiding translating everything orally when we speak to learners. It’s easy to develop conversational routines too, starting with greetings, and asking how people are - I generally do this with talk time, encouraging learners to ask each other how they are for example. The expressions in this set are: Let’s speak French; Hello everyone; Goodbye everyone; How are you?; I’m very well thanks; Sit down please; Stand up please; Look please; Listen please; Repeat please; Everyone together; Once again; Put your hands up; Don’t shout out; Put your hands down; Quietly please; Stop please; Put your things away; Well done There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain white, so 40 posters in total. The flag background will definitely use a lot of printer ink, but I always laminate my posters, so that I can use them for years. The plain white background looks great too!
